Are Islamabad Peace Talks in Jeopardy? US Navy Intercepts Iranian Ship Gulf of Oman

A container ship, the Girls of Oman, was on its way on April 19 when it was about to reach Chabahar Port and the whole situation changed.The Iranian-flagged ship was entering the Persian Gulf, violating the U.S navy blockade.


2. The Iranian ship

An Iranian-flagged vessel, the M/V Touska, a large container ship, made an unexpected stop. The incident occurred on April 19, 2026, near the Gulf of Oman. According to the latest information, the ship departed from Port Klang, Malaysia. Some reports also claim it originated from Gaolan Port (Zhuhai), China, and was headed to Iran.

. As the M/V Touska moved forward, breaking through the U.S. naval blockade, the ship was warned to stop. The U.S. Navy provided continuous tracking and loudspeaker warnings for six hours.

. USS Spruance (DDG 111), an Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer, repeatedly informed Tuska that it was violating the blockade. When the Iranian crew refused, Navy Commander Leigh R Tate issued a final warning to the ship, ordering them to immediately evacuate the engine room to avoid loss of life. He then began firing his 5-inch MK 45 guns at the engine room. Within minutes, the ship stopped.

. The USS Tripoli (LHA 7) was also involved in this attack along with the USS Spruance. Immediately after the firing, approximately 20 to 24 U.S. Marines carried out an 'Airborne Assault' on the Tuska using helicopters and took control of the entire ship. These Marines are part of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU).

The ship is currently under US control and anchored in the North Arabian Sea, north of the Gulf of Oman. The approximately 25 to 30 crew members on board are safe and no one has been lost their. They are being questioned, and the US Marine Corps is conducting a thorough search of the ship.
